82nd Anniversary Service at The
WWII Lonely Memorial

 

 To be held at Dave Metcalf’s Leasow Farm on Sunday 26th July at 2.30 p.m.
Some of the relatives of the airmen that were killed in the crash will be attending. We hope there will be transport to the memorial, contact ijdsutton@icloud.com

The Villages of Mugginton Parish Local History Group are having an external speaker for their meeting in the Village Hall on Monday 7th September at 7.30pm. 
He believes that Mugginton is the only parish in Derbyshire and one of the few in the UK to have such records still in existence The records cover 1723 to the date of the new poor law in 1837.

Charity Meal & Pub Night
Saturday, October 3rd at 7.00pm

We’re delighted that the ever-popular charity meal pub night returns to the village hall on Saturday, October 3rd @7pm.

There  will be a choice of meat or vegetarian meals all expertly cooked by our own village resident chefs Paul & Tracey.
Preordering of food is essential - with all details to follow in the next village newsletter, and to those registered for email notifications.
As ever, our usual range of drinks will be served, including real ales, cider and quality wines from our cash only bar. Doors open at 7pm, normal admission charge of £1 per adults applies to cover rental of hall & bar licence.
We continue to be very grateful to our local excellent bakers and any Charity Cake Donations on the night would be very welcome.
THIS WILL BE A FUNDRAISER SPECIFICALLY TO HELP FUND THE VITAL WORK NEEDED TO RECLAD OUR BELOVED VILLAGE HALL AND ALLOW THE STAND INN AND OUR FABULOUS PATRONS TO CONTRIBUTE DIRECTLY TO THIS.

Tuesday Group 

 

Garden visit at Broomfield Hall, Morley, Ilkeston, DE7 6DN, Tuesday 21st July at 17.00.
Next outing is a Garden visit at Broomfield Hall which has been arranged by Vicki Wright who used to work there. A tour around the gardens will be given by Head Gardener, Samantha Harvey and volunteer gardeners.
Meet at the Plant Centre at 17.00 (5pm) for a tour of the Gardens with refreshments afterwards.
Please email jselley@btopenworld.com to confirm if you plan to attend, by July 19th. The charge for the visit with refreshments is £10 per person to be paid on arrival.


August 18th Visit to Ogston Hall, Alfreton DE55 6AP
Roger and Judy Hill have arranged a tour of Ogston Hall a country house privately owned by David and Caroline Wakefield for 14.00 (2pm). Numbers are limited to 15 with a charge of £12.00 per person.
To be arranged, a pre tour lunch stop at Wingfield Station.
