In the 1960s,a youth club was set up in the local primary school. Space was very limited, and not really suitable for the club's needs, so a plan was hatched! Club leaders Betty Kemster and George Rains fronted efforts for the Youth Club to have their own space, which could also be used by other groups and provide a centre for all kinds of community activities.
Frantic fundraising and fantastic support from the local community allowed the purchase of a former RAF NAAFI hut from Staffordshire. The hall was assembled on site by a team of intrepid local volunteers - perhaps without paying attention to modern H&S standards!
The hall has served the Youth Club and the wider community needs of the local villages for the next thirty years.
