Community to the rescue
By 2000, the hall was showing its age. The roof leaked, the equipment was outdated, the internal floor surface was rough and too dangerous for the toddler groups to continue using the premises. The exterior cladding was rotten. Utilisation of the hall was minimal. This dire situation was made worse by the short time left on the original lease which made grant applications impossible. The future of the hall was in serious jeopardy!
A hardy troupe of locals decided to take action and began a complete restoration both by their own voluntary labour and fundraising to engage professionals to repairs the external cladding. The 'before and 'after' photographs below show the success of the efforts.
